Dr. Amjad Obeid

Dr. Amjad Obeid is a highly qualified and experienced medical professional with expertise in emergency medicine, disaster medicine, and road safety. He is double board certified in emergency medicine since 2008 and has over 25 years of experience in the field.

 

Dr. Obeid holds a Master’s degree in Disaster Medicine (EMDM) from Italy and a Master of Business Administration from ESSEC University in France. He has also received certification as an executive emergency medicine leader from Harvard University and completed a Faculty Development Fellowship from George Washington University.

 

Currently, Dr. Obeid serves as a Consultant in Adult Emergency Medicine and Head of the Emergency Department at Dr. Sulaiman Al Habib Hospital in Khobar. In addition to his clinical role, he holds the position of Chief Medical Officer of the Bahrain Motor Federation, where he is responsible for the medical aspects of the Bahrain Grand Prix Race (F1) and all the FIA car racing events since 2006. He is a member of the FIA Medical Commission and has been appointed as the FIA medical delegate for F1 races in the 2023 season.

 

Dr. Obeid has extensive knowledge and experience in road safety and injury prevention. He worked as the World Health Organization (WHO) focal point for seven years and was the National Data Coordinator for the three global reports on road safety published by WHO.

 

In terms of medical training, Dr. Obeid is a regional faculty for MENA region  and a  senior instructor certified by the American Heart Association for Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS), Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS), and Pediatric Emergency Assessment, Recognition, and Stabilization (PEARS). He is also a certified instructor by the American College of Surgeons for Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS). He has been actively involved in teaching as part of the Saudi Board Residency Program (SBEM) in various hospitals for over 10 years.
