Tareq A. Al-Salamah

Dr. Tareq Al-Salamah is an accomplished emergency physician and healthcare leader, currently serving as the Head of the Adult Unit and Deputy Chairman of the Emergency Department at King Saud University Medical City, as well as Deputy Medical Director of the hospital. He graduated from King Saud University and earned a Master’s in Public Health from the University of Miami. Dr. Al-Salamah completed his Emergency Medicine residency and Administrative Fellowship at the University of Maryland, where he focused on hospital throughput and operational efficiency. After several years of practice in the United States, he returned to Saudi Arabia to assume academic and leadership roles at King Saud University and King Saud University Medical City.

In his current role, Dr. Al-Salamah plays a key role in optimizing operational and clinical processes at the hospital level, with a focus on improving patient flow and overall healthcare delivery. His deep understanding of healthcare transformation in Saudi Arabia stems from his work at the Ministry of Health’s Vision Realization Office (VRO), where he gained valuable insights into the strategic efforts driving the Kingdom’s healthcare modernization under Vision 2030. This experience informs his approach to aligning hospital operations with the national healthcare objectives.

As an assistant professor at King Saud University and a consultant at King Saud University Medical City, Dr. Al-Salamah has contributed extensively to academic research, with publications in esteemed journals such as the American Journal of Emergency Medicine, Emergency Medicine Clinics of America, Scientific American, and ACEP’s Critical Decisions in Emergency Medicine. He has also authored several book chapters, including a contribution to EMRAP’s Corependium. Since January 2022, he has served as an associate editor for ACEP’s Critical Decisions in Emergency Medicine.

Dr. Al-Salamah has been featured in podcast appearances, including EMCast and ACEP’s Critical Decisions in Emergency Medicine, where he discusses key challenges in the field.

With a unique blend of clinical expertise and operational insight, Dr. Al-Salamah continues to drive advancements in healthcare, aligning his work with the broader goals of Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030 to deliver high-quality, efficient healthcare services.
