Dr. Ray Lucas is Professor of Emergency Medicine at George Washington University where he developed and teaches the School of Medicine Faculty Leadership Program.
He is the former Senior Associate Dean for Faculty and Health affairs, overseeing faculty affairs, faculty development and relationships with clinical partner organizations for the GW School of Medicine and Health Sciences.
A career medical educator, Dr. Lucas has served in leadership roles that have spanned the educational continuum as the medical director for the GW undergraduate program in Emergency Health Services,
GW Emergency Medicine Residency Program Director, Director of the GW EMS and Disaster Medicine Post-Graduate Fellowship and as the Vice Chair for Education for the GW Department of Emergency Medicine.
His scholarship and publications in recent years have focused on curriculum development, learner assessment and faculty leadership development.
He recently was awarded, as co- PI, a $300,000 grant from the Josiah Macy Jr. Foundation to develop competencies, milestones and a curriculum for diverse medical students interested in pursuing careers in academic medicine.
